If I were CEO of (say) Citigroup

If I were CEO of (say) Citigroup, today would be a good day to surface. Today would be a good day to (well) lead!  Today is a good day to step up and address (at least) 3 topics that seem to be in the news all day long;  discrimination, deregulation and tax reform.

BTW, no pictures in this post; not in the mood!

We’re under constant verbal attack these days; all politically motivated and all starting at the top! (WTF!)

This 7 X 24 in our face rhetoric has caused a diversion of epic proportions from our day to day activities.

Politics aside, one can only imagine the cost; in productivity, morale and who knows what else!

Corporate CEO’s MUST NOT play leader see leader do by subscribing to this rhetoric in solidarity of the source.  Leadership requires Leadership; not leader see leader do!

If I were CEO of (say) Citigroup, today would be a good day for me to lead!  Today would be a good day to earn my keep as CEO.  Today would be a good day to be a teammate!

Today would be a good day to send an internal memo to ALL employees, letting them know this time we’re keeping our eye on the ball.

    Discrimination:

    • We (Citigroup) will never tolerate any racial, gender, religious, political or nationality degrading rhetoric regardless of the source. Citigroup is an EEOC but let’s make we’re walking that talk.  Let’s make sure we’re accountable!
    • We’re considering a zero-tolerance statement regarding any form of racial, gender, religious, political or nationality degrading rhetoric in our employee onboarding handbook, to be signed by every employee onboarded.
    • We’re considering discussing the topic of racial, gender, religious, political or nationality degrading rhetoric at length during all employee annual reviews, again to be signed by the employee
    • We’re considering a zero-tolerance toward any form of racial, gender, religious, political or nationality degrading rhetoric overall review and rating (hopefully) signed by each employee upon their exit of the company.
    • We’re considering internal training and education not about being politically correct but about being an equal part member of the the Citigroup team regardless of your job description!

    Deregulation:

    • We (Citigroup) will never revert to old habits because of all this “Wall Street” deregulation. We’re still recovering! BTW; we believe deregulation is a bad idea!
    • We’re considering creating an internal penalty and fine monitoring and reporting process to include the line of business, penalty and/or fine, the officer in charge and the number of customers impacted. As painful as it will be; YES, we will share this!
    • We’re considering a zero-tolerance statement regarding any behavior and/or practice that results in either a penalty, fine or both; to be signed by every employee onboarded.
    • We’re considering discussing the topic of internally generated penalty and/or fines at length during all employee annual reviews, again to be signed by the employee.

    Tax Reform:

    • We (Citigroup) will never revert to old habits because of tax reform.  We’re still recovering!
    • We (Citigroup) will be sharing our trickle-down redistribution plan to be implemented upon tax reform commencement. An example would be a pie chart showing the redistribution of income percentage across all lines of business and employee levels including senior officers.

The above is for example purposes only but…..

If I were CEO of (say) Citigroup, today would be a good day to lead!

We need Leaders not bully’s.  We need Leadership not leader see leader do.

We need a team of teammates not a team of rivals!

Today is a good day to step up and be a leader.

    Charlie.
