What’s All The Buzz About Being Sugar Free?

There’s been a lot of buzz about going sugar-free. Maybe you have friends that have done it and sing it’s praises or you’ve read some articles and are intrigued.

Or perhaps you’ve said to yourself, “No thanks, not for me. All things in moderation.”

Last spring I dug deeper into a sugar free lifestyle. I wanted to lose weight after turning 60 and being told I needed to stop my thyroid medication.

I started researching because I wanted answers. However, the more I asked “why” the more obsessive I became.

    • Why does the same amount of sugar make me gain weight when I’m stressed and have no effect when I’m not?
    • Why does working out harder seem to have zero impact on my weight?
    • Why can some people eat sugar and not gain weight and others can’t?
    • Why is portion control so freakin’ hard?!
    • Why do so many of us struggle with our weight even though we’re eating “healthy”?

I kept watching, reading and googling.

My research started because I wanted to lose weight but then I learned about the huge health benefits of becoming 100% sugar free.

There didn’t seem to be a downside. Actually, there was a lot of research linking sugar to many of the issues that have been blamed on fat i.e. obesity, heart disease, and even dementia.

I made the decision to go 100% sugar free. From past experience I knew that moderation wouldn’t work. I knew it had to be all or nothing. No different than any other addiction.

And something unexpected happened. Yes, I lost weight (30 pounds) BUT something more important happened. My hunger and cravings stopped. I didn’t need willpower to not eat certain foods.

Who knew that sugar had that much control over me. I wasn’t eating that much (or so I thought).

Sugar controlled my cravings, my hunger, my hormones and my mood. I realized my weight loss had nothing to do with willpower and everything to do with hormone regulation.

Suddenly, the eating plan I started was not difficult to implement. That had NEVER happened before.

I wanted to share what I learned with you but blog posts weren’t enough. I began comparing my research with my friend and fellow coach, Paula Kutcher because I knew she had also lost weight and one component of that loss was going sugar free.

We compiled our research and created a course that we’re excited to share with you.

    The details are HERE.

I encourage you to check it out, even if you don’t have weight to lose. Sugar is deeply embedded in our society. It’s used to celebrate accomplishments and milestones, soothe our wounds, keep us company. It’s also easy to abuse and can (over time) lead to many health issues. However, releasing it takes coaching, tools and inspiration.

Imagine not being controlled by food and all the mental energy that control takes up.

That energy can be used to accomplish those goals that have been sitting on the back burner!

If I didn’t believe in the power of releasing sugar, I wouldn’t be sharing this course with you.

Let’s do this together, donate our big pants and change the world!
